The Police and Military have launched a manhunt for persons who murdered a soldier of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) over the weekend at Taifa, a suburb of Ashaiman, in the Greater Accra Region.
The soldier, Trooper Imoro Shariff’s lifeless body was found lying in a pool of blood.
Lying beside the body was his military packs containing a tablet.Conspicuously missing was his iPhone 6.
It is not clear what might be motive of the killers. This has pushed the security authorities to activate the very best of intelligence undercover operations to unearth it.
The deceased, who grew up at Ashaiman, was enlisted into the Ghana Army about two years ago and was posted to the 154 Armoured Reece Regiment in Sunyani.
He is among a number of soldiers currently undertaking a course at the Ghana Armed Forces Central Band near the 37 Military Hospital.
Last week, the Trooper reportedly showed signs of ill-health and was granted a pass on Friday to enable him to go and cure himself.
After tattoo parade that night, he reportedly left for home, but on the way he stopped at a friend’s place before continuing to his Roman Down residence.
He was reportedly seen off by the said friend and family, only for him to be found murdered.
As people remain tight-lipped in the sprawling town of Ashaiman over the mystery death, one thing remains certain, which has to do with massive military cum police swoop, but as to when it will happen is like the second coming of Christ which nobody knows, according to a senior security source at Burma Camp.
