How well do you know Ghana 🇬🇭 ?

Ghana is a country located in West Africa, bordered by the Ivory Coast to the west, Burkina Faso to the north, Togo to the east, and the Gulf of Guinea to the south. It has a rich history that spans thousands of years, with evidence of early human settlements dating back to the Paleolithic era.

In the medieval era, the area that is now Ghana was home to a number of powerful empires, including the Ghana Empire, the Mali Empire, and the Songhai Empire. These empires traded extensively with other parts of Africa and the wider world, including Europe and the Middle East.

The arrival of Europeans in the 15th century, led by the Portuguese, marked a new phase in Ghana's history. The Portuguese established a series of coastal trading posts, and soon other European powers, including the Dutch, British, and Danes, followed suit. The slave trade was a major feature of this period, with millions of Africans forcibly taken from the West African coast and shipped across the Atlantic to work on plantations in the Americas.

In the late 19th century, the British established a protectorate over the Gold Coast, as Ghana was then known, and ruled the country until it gained independence in 1957. Ghana was the first African country to achieve independence from colonial rule, and its first president, Kwame Nkrumah, was a key figure in the Pan-African movement.

Since independence, Ghana has experienced periods of political instability, including a series of military coups in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s. However, in recent years, the country has emerged as a stable and thriving democracy, with a growing economy and a rich cultural heritage that is celebrated around the world.
