Ex-Ghana Defender Gives a Chilling Account of Black Stars Ahead of 2022 World Cup

Ex-Black Stars defender, John Paintsil has expressed confidence in the Black Stars squad ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Black Stars have been paired in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay. They will open their World Cup campaign against Portugal, a side that piped them 2-1 in the third group game at the 2014 tournament before they face South Korea and a final game against Uruguay who eliminated them in the quarter final in 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Ghana went past Nigeria over two legs with the first leg ending goalless in Kumasi and the second leg producing a 1-1 score line in Abuja. Ghana qualified on the away goal rule and will make their fourth appearance at the World Cup after the 2006, 2010 and the 2014 editions.

"I believe our current squad is a very balanced one, with youth and experience," John Paintsil told BBC Sports Africa. "The two matches they played against Nigeria gave all of us hope that they can go further. We trust that they will do it."
